The complete guide to custom-branded coconut wedding favors.

Everything to know — design, timing, budget, and logistics — from five summers supplying hundreds of weddings from Montauk to Miami.

Celebrating love with custom-branded coconuts at the Biltmore Hotel Miami Coral Gables wedding

A branded coconut is not really a wedding favor. A favor is something guests stuff in a purse and discover three weeks later. A branded coconut is a welcome, a photograph, a drink, and a dessert, all held by the same guest for the first forty minutes of your wedding. By the time the monogram arrives home as a souvenir, it has already done most of its work.

What is a branded coconut, exactly?

A young Thai coconut (soft green husk shaved down to cream-colored shell), hand-branded with your monogram, initials, or custom artwork. Each coconut is chilled to drink temperature, cracked before service, and handed to a guest with a compostable straw. The coconut water inside is naturally sweet; the jelly along the shell walls is eaten with a small wooden spoon when the drink is done.

When to serve them during the wedding

The best moment is arrival. Guests park, walk up, and are handed a coconut the moment they clear the greeter. This turns the unavoidable "check-in" pocket of the wedding into the first photograph of the day. Alternatives we have served: welcome drink at a rehearsal dinner, dessert-hour surprise at the reception, farewell brunch amenity the morning after. Welcome drink is the default because it compounds social proof through the rest of the event.

How the branding works

You send us your monogram. A PDF or vector file is ideal, but we can vectorize from a decent JPG. Within three business days we send a digital proof showing your artwork pressed at actual size onto a coconut husk. You approve it in writing, and production begins. Every coconut is hand-pressed with a food-safe iron; no two are identical, which is part of the charm. You can spec a single color (black is classic, white reads well for night weddings, gold works for fall) or a two-color design.

What it costs

Expect a per-coconut rate in the low-to-mid double digits, with volume breaks at 100, 250, and 500+. The quote includes branding, chilling, and delivery; on-site coconut attendants (someone to crack and serve) is an additional per-hour fee. A typical 150-guest Hamptons wedding comes in between $2,500 and $4,500, depending on customization and on-site needs. Miami weddings run similar; Connecticut and New Jersey fall slightly below because of shorter transit.

Booking timeline

For peak season (May through October) in the Hamptons, Jersey Shore, or New York, lock dates six to eight weeks ahead. For winter Miami weddings, three to four weeks is generally enough. Rush service (72-hour turnaround) is available in NYC and Miami but not guaranteed during peak weeks. Our calendar blocks fastest in June, July, and early August.

Logistics and setup

We deliver to your venue with coolers and pre-chilled product. For outdoor weddings in summer heat we maintain cold-chain through on-site ice baths and a dedicated coconut attendant (ours, or your catering team can handle it). The only constraint we sometimes hit is venue-specific: a few Hamptons wedding venues require COIs naming them as additional insured, which we provide free within 24 hours.

What not to worry about

Temperature: we ship chilled and the coconut's natural insulation holds temperature better than you think. Mess: guests drink through a straw; there is no spillage. Allergy: coconuts are tree nut-adjacent on some allergen lists but the coconut water itself is rarely a concern, but we still post a small allergen notice for guests with serious allergies. Sustainability: the husk is compostable, and for zero-waste weddings we coordinate post-event collection.

The one thing most couples get wrong

They try to brand the coconut with too much. A full wedding invitation's worth of text compressed onto a curved surface does not read. The best-looking branded coconuts we have produced are quiet: two initials, or a monogram plus a date. The restraint is what makes the coconut feel luxurious rather than promotional. Let the photograph do the work.
